The Management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN) on Wednesday, 27th August, 2025 held a brief but symbolic ceremony to officially hand over the certificate of operational license granted to the university by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The event featured a sequence of handovers, beginning from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, Professor Kabiru Isyaku; from the Pro-Chancellor to the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Emeritus Professor Muhammad Sani Zaharaddeen; and finally, from the BOT Chairman to the Director, Proprietors’ Office, Alhaji Anwar Isyaku Rabiu.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdulrashid Garba expressed profound gratitude to Allah for witnessing the milestone which he described as a moment of celebration in the history of the university. He recalled the NUC’s validation visit to the university in April 2025, during which the delegation commended KHAIRUN for its excellence in infrastructure, environment, and overall preparedness. He further emphasized that what makes KHAIRUN unique is its commitment to Qur’anic recitation, entrepreneurship, and moral values which are built on the legacy of the founder, the late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu.

The Pro-Chancellor, Professor Kabiru Isyaku, while handing over the certificate, described the occasion as a moment of appreciation to Almighty Allah. He noted that the license presentation marks only the beginning, as NUC is expected to return later in the year for the University’s accreditation exercise. He concluded with prayers for the late founder and the university.

Similarly, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Emeritus Professor Sani Zahraddeen, described the moment as a great honour to receive and hand over the operational license on behalf of the Trustees. He thanked Allah for the university’s progress, commended the founder’s enduring legacy of service to humanity, and prayed for his eternal repose.

Receiving the license on behalf of the proprietors, Alhaji Anwar Isyaku Rabiu described the day as one of joy and fulfillment. He congratulated the management, council, and the BOT for their tireless commitment and sacrifices in achieving this milestone. He further assured that the Proprietors remain committed to providing continuous support and encouragement to ensure KHAIRUN becomes a beacon of quality education in Nigeria.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the University, its founders, management, staff and students, and all stakeholders, with renewed commitment to advancing the vision of providing academic excellence grounded in moral and spiritual values.
