The management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Professor Kabiru Isyaku, paid a courtesy visit to the Chancellor of the University, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Samaila Muhammed Mera, CON, Emir of Argungu, at his palace on Wednesday, 6th August 2025.

During the visit, the Pro-Chancellor expressed his profound appreciation for the audience granted by the chancellor and noted that the purpose of the visit was to formally greet His Royal Highness and to reaffirm his appointment as the Chancellor of the University ahead of the official investiture ceremony. He emphasized that the choice of His Royal Highness as Chancellor is a significant one for the University because of his vast experience, deep commitment to education, and longstanding relationship with the family of the founder, the late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu. Professor Isyaku also offered prayers for peace in the country and for continued good health and long life for the Emir.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the Emir for the warm reception they received. He introduced the Pro-Chancellor and members of the delegation, noting that it is a time honored tradition for universities to pay homage to their Chancellors upon appointment. Professor Garba also highlighted the background, vision, and remarkable achievements of KHAIRUN since its establishment, which he described as a continuation of the noble legacy of the founder. He concluded by praying for the repose of the soul of the late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu, for the wellbeing of the Chancellor, and for peace in the nation.

In his response, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Samaila Muhammed Mera, CON, expressed deep appreciation for the visit and gratitude for the confidence reposed in him by the university. He described KHAIRUN as a unique institution and commended its rapid progress and notable achievements within a short period. The Emir offered wise counsel to the university management, prayed for their continued success, and encouraged them to sustain the legacy of the founder. He also thanked and prayed for the entire management team before wishing them a safe journey back home. Lastly, he extended his sincere appreciation to the family of the late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu for finding him worthy of the appointment.
This visit further strengthens the cordial relationship between the chancellor and the university and reaffirmed the shared vision of promoting quality education and sustaining the founder’s enduring legacy.
