Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN) is pleased to announce the establishment of new centres and initiatives aimed at promoting indigenous knowledge, entrepreneurship, research, and academic mentorship within the university community.

As part of these developments, the university has created a new directorate: the KHAIRUN Centre for Indigenous Knowledge System (KCIKS). The Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba has approved the appointment of Professor Ibrahim Auwal, former Director of the KHAIRUN Centre for Research Innovation and Linkages(KCRIL), as the pioneer Director of KCIKS. The board of the Centre will consist of all academic staff, with a secretary to be appointed by the Registrar.

In a related development, Maryam Garba has been appointed as the Acting Director of KCRIL.

In its commitment to advancing knowledge and scholarship, KHAIRUN will soon launch a new journal titled: KHAIRUN Multidisciplinary Journal of Entrepreneurship and Indigenous Knowledge (KHAMJEIK). This journal will serve as a platform for the publication of high-quality research on entrepreneurship, indigenous knowledge, and innovation.

Furthermore, the university has established the KHAIRUN Academic Mentorship, Growth and Innovation Forum (KHAMGIF). The forum will be chaired by the Vice Chancellor and will include the Director of DEAR, academic staff, and lab technologists, with a total membership of 20. KHAMGIF is designed to foster academic mentorship, promote innovation, and support professional growth across the university.

As always, KHAIRUN remains dedicated to creating opportunities for impactful research, entrepreneurship development, and the preservation as well as promotion of indigenous knowledge for societal advancement.
